Long Time hunting buddies or a new camp? My father and I with a friend of mine

What did you see? total between all of us Saturday-Tuesday= 2 bucks, 3 doe, 2 fawns

What did you shoot? I got a doe

How did others fare in your camp/group? Pops got a 6 pointer, friend missed opportunity for a doe

How was the weather? Warm, had running water on the trailer for the full 5 days

On another note, the DNR was aging deer at the registration station in town. She said that 80-90% of the deer coming in were yearling bucks (spikes, forks, sixes, or half racks). Anybody care to guess an age on the doe I shot? The tooth at the top is the first tooth.

When the biologist opened the jaw she immediately said "this is an old one". We were very surprised as this doe was about the same size as the 1.5 year old buck that we brought in with her, and the two doe that we brought in last year which were aged at 2.5 and 3.5 by the same biologist. She said that this one was between 6 and 8 and she would lean more towards 8 making her one of the oldest deer, if not the oldest, I have seen harvested on our property for the 15 years I have hunted it.

I sat all but an hour or two per day for the first four days and saw absolutely nothing from multiple stand locations. Like was said above, sign was all over this year, but my assumption and opinion, is that there was too much food available and temperatures were not cold enough, actually too warm, to force the deer to move during the daylight hours.

After the first four days, we started pushing areas based on past years successes and current sign. Still nothing. I was in the woods a total of 7 days and didn't see a deer. I guess that I need to scout better for next year.

went out for the last 2 hours of legal tonight,saw 4 fawns and 2 doe's.........legal for our area was over at 4:43pm, heard more shots from 4:51-4:56pm(5) then i did while sitting out their(3)

I shot a buck opening morning and a doe on Friday after thanksgiving. Both were in the freezer the next day. Canned 19 pints of venison. It was like every other gun deer season, go out and shoot two deer for the freezer then wait for the bowhunting to get better after the smoke pole guys get done.

Here are our deer sightings for the week for our deer camp in Iron County. We (4 of us) hunted for 5 days and sat open to close, except for lunch on M, T, & W. We hunt on 120 acres. I heard about 50 shots on opening day and much less Sunday. This was more than last year.

Sun: (2) Buck (8pt & fork), (1) Doe, (0) Fawns, (1) Coyote
Mon: (1) Buck (3pt), (1) Doe, (0) Fawns (1) Coyote
Tues: (1) Buck (3pt again), (2) Doe, (0) Fawns
Weds: (0) Buck, (0) Doe, (0) Fawns

The thing that worries me is that we didn't see a single fawn. Mom didn't see anything except for a coyote. My stepfather & brother only saw the same 3 pointer.

We should have called the DNR about the coyote ban before season to see if they lifted the restriction. They did.

My father, my sister, and I hunted in Adams County, near Grand Marsh, on a small piece of enrolled forest management property. We hunted 7 out of the 9 days missing only Wednesday and Thursday. We didn't see anything on opening day. There was a dense fog throughout the area that didn't let up until late morning, and we heard hardly any shooting opening day.

On Sunday I saw two deer, a doe which I had no shot at as she didn't pass through any of my shooting lanes, and a 1.5 year old spike buck that I shot. The buck had the antler broken off on his left side, and had a big scar over his left eye which he was blind in. The buck had a very large body for his age and weighed in at 201lbs. I was very happy with him, and the family will be eating well this winter I posted a picture for you guys to see.

My dad and sister both saw two doe a piece, but didn't have shots on any of them; bringing the total amount of deer seen during the season of 6. We hunted hard all day long, never came in until dark, and we were setup in very good spots. Seen a few deer, not many, but just couldn't close the deal on a few of them. Still a great time though.
