In Mississippi, there are also seemingly serious penalties for shooting dogs. What I have devised as the solution though that seems to work is to bring a sharpie to the stand during dog season. All you have to do is write on the collar or what not on the dog is "he was on my land and messed up my hunt." the hunting community around where I am understands that running dogs and letting them get away is a no no and that this writing is the last warning. After picking that trick up last year, and writing on about 15 dog collars, I have yet to have a dog run through this year which is the first time that is true since I bought the property.

Though your idea is certainly a clever one, the downside is that you have to handle the dog to write on his collar. The dogs that I have had problems with did not see too friendly.
I really don't like the option of shooting a dog, but as I had said before, I'm not going to be bitten.
