I just booked a flight to Texas to hunt there in November. We'll be hunting whitetails, axis deer, and wild pigs. I've always wanted to shoot a pig with a handgun, so I hope to take a handgun. Are there regulations I need to know? Gotta check on how to get the handgun there, but I think I can do it (flying from Cleveland to San Antonio). My handgun choice is a Kimber Crimson Carry 1911 (4" barrel with laser sights).
Are you permitted to use a semi-auto in Texas?
A semi-auto with a laser dot sight?
Would deer be legal with this gun?
For whitetails I'm taking my 7mm-08 and a bow.
Thanks. Any other info on hunting Texas would be appreciated.

I asked a friend of mine who lives/hunts in Texas and he said that you can use ANY firearm for pigs, and any caliber higher than a .22 for deer and turkey. Happy hunting!
