Shaman, you reinforced my point. As hunters, no one has the right to claim that their way is superior to any other person's method. Like I stated we are all members of the brotherhood of hunters. I too only have to walk less than 50 yards to two of my stands, and could actually open my kitchen window and shoot deer and turkeys in my front yard at times. When I was a kid, there wasn't a deer withing 5 miles of my house. I've been back here on the family land now for eleven years and have been planting food plots, improving habitat, and killing deer that get bigger and better every year...........and most of those are does! I live in a state where I can legally, by killing only one buck per day of the season, along with using my 4 doe tags, and killing two does per doe day, actually kill 172 deer per season. I have had seasons where I killed twenty or more, but these days I usually end up with 6 or 7, and my step-grandson (he's 16 and I've raised him since he was 3 months old) usually kills 1 or 2. I donate venison to several people, and the majority of meat we eat is venison or some other wild game. All of my hunting is on private land, either my own, or my hunting club's leased and privately owned land, with the occasional trip to a private plantation or two when we are invited as guests. I've never hunted high fence, and the only public land I've ever hunted was the Federal WMA outside of Savannah, once. I feel lucky to have my own land where I've busted my ass to develop my herd, and am thankful I don't have to compete for hunting spots on public lands. For those folks who don't have the opportunity to hunt private lands, I offer both my condolences and my congratulations for their tenacity and skill at being able to hunt successfully. I certainly don't condemn them.........or the high fence hunters for taking advantage of whatever options they may be limited to; and by the same token I don't expect them to condemn my methods; which once again, was the point of my reply to the OP in this thread.
