Heres an example of what i mean-sitting on a soybean field, range a little pine at 40yds works perfect, range a bluebird house at probly 175 and it wont read it, range a mature pine tree at 209yds works again.

bit the bullet and bought a pro scout 1000 with arc. got a great deal though, $245 free shipping. brand new in the box from ebay. claims to be good on deer to 300 yrds, plus with the arc ill feel better about if it i ever do use it for bowhunting.

Good choice. I have the 450 and it is only good for bow hunting. Even tough the 450 says it will range a deer at 500 yards and a house at 800, I never have any luck over 125 yards for anything. I use a set of Wind River Range Binoculars for rifle. They work great.
