How many in your lifetime?

Postby JPH » Tue Dec 02, 2008 5:41 am

How many deer have you killed in your lifetime? I know it is not an apples to apples question because some of us have been at this longer or live in states with more liberal limits. I'm just curious.

I have been deer hunting for five seasons and have killed 8 deer. Year one=0, year two=1, year three=4, year four=1, current season=2. Total of two bucks, one button and 5 does.

Been hunting for 19 years now and killed at least one deer every year except for the year uncle sam decided I should start USMC boot camp in Oct. But I guess it was worth it I still got to hunt a little in Sept.

I've been sporting deer hunting for some 20 years now and I've gotten at least 2 doe every year and an occasional buck about every other I guess.  That would put me at about 41-50 or so.  God has certainly been gracious to me over the years!

I hunted pretty hard from '98-'00, eased off and took somewhat of a break until '06 and have again put in serious effort since.  So over my six serious hunting seasons (including the current one up to now) I've taken 10 bucks, 1 button, and 4 does.  These are all VA deer except for 2 NC bucks in 2000.  I love recounting the stories of each and every one!

I still claim that I'd rather hunt my long deer season, somewhat generous bag limit, and smaller deer here in the south than hunt the monster deer during the short seasons further west.  I just love hunting deer and for me time in the woods hunting is greater than the bigger bucks.  Don't get me wrong, I love to hunt down our bigger mature VA deer, but I even more love our long seasons!

I took my first deer when I was 12 and have taken at least 1 per year since (now 33)  most years when I was a kid I averaged 3. Since getting married I have had some very good years and been blessed to hunt in a couple different states as well as my home state at least 5 years of the past eight I have taken fifteen plus, so I guess that puts me in the 80 plus category for lifetime.  Never really thought about it, lots of doe's though.

Hunting 35 years, between Ohio and excess of 150.
