Primer recommendations

I had some ignition issues last year. I really like the simplicity of Triple Seven pellets. Is there a 209 primer any would suggest as being ultra reliable in terms of hot ignition?
 
I'm not exactly on the cutting edge of smoke pole technology. I have a CVA Wolf magnum shooting .50 cal PowerBelts. This rig shoots... when it goes off.

I have been using the CCI 209 primers since I started shooting my NEF 50 cal Huntsman a few years ago . I use the loose 777 powder . I havn't had a misfire ............ yet . I am not saying they are better , just that they have never let me down .
When you clean your CVA , do you make sure the Flash Hole is clear . Mine is big enough that I can push the end of a paper clip throuh it .

A paperclip is definitely going into the possibles pocket.

I hunt with a CVA Wolf , I use Winchester 209 primers and have shot 200+ shots with it and have never had a misfire (knock on wood) but that is all I'v used along with  100 grain  pyrodex pellets and 295 grain aerotip powerbelt bullets.

There are some magnum 209 primers available. I think CCI makes some.
 
Understand that you`ll need to re-work your load if you change primers, as the different primer will likely change your point-of-impact.

Winchester 209 primers have always worked well for me never had a problem. I was told before loading my muzzleoader to put a primer in and fire it off to clean out anything that might cause a missfire. Anybody else heard of this or done it.

Absolutely, that ensures any oil, or cleaning solvents that may potentially interfere with the ignition of the powder are burned off. In fact, I`ll "snap off" several caps or primers.

hunter480 thanks for the reply I am fairly new to muzzleloader hunting and didnt want to do somthing that might hurt me or my gun...

I store all my guns barrel down after cleaning, just for that reason.  Most modern guns need far less oil than most people recognize.  Storing them muzzle down keeps any excess oil or solvent from creeping into areas that it doesn't belong or is not needed.  Just a suggestion that works for me.
