I shot vanes when I first started hunting when I was 12...The long ones. But then again I was shooting Thunderheads. The past few years I've shot expandables, more recently the Rage 2 blade, and have been using feathers. I think I may switch to the 2 inch vanes now to try them out. Thanks for the info guys!
I also shoot the 2" blazer vanes with a right helical twist. This was my first year shooting vanes after alot of years with feathers. I used a right wing Bohning fletching jig and fletched all my own arrows. Vanes are a little more durable than feathers for hunting conditions in my opinion.
I thought I recall a previous post on it as well? My two cents for what its worth; I used to use he feathers and my one complaint was when it was raining or wet out the feathers got ruffled a bit and I'm quite certain it would have impacted my accuracy...I switched to vanes after that.
