First of all hello to everyone, newbie here saying hello.
Well I finally shot my first deer after 3 years of trying! A spike which I actually thought was a doe until I walked up on him.
I hunted Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam county on a friend's property. Got him at about 80 yards with my 11-87 and an Accu-Tip slug.
I previously watched a video on how to gut him and everything went smoothly! Brought him to the butcher (Amato's in Katonah, I'm sure you guys in lower NYS are familiar with him). He's in the freezer.
I've hunted turkeys for some time but just recently got into deer. I think I'm gonna build a nice blind on my brother's deer littered property up in Wingdale, in Dutchess County for next year. Saw a monster up there during bow season, hopefully he'll be there next year.
Well I've still got my doe tag! Back into the woods next weekend.
Good to be here.
