Went hunting on Friday afternoon and saw 3 Doe's with no bucks here in the Lowcountry. I saw prerut activity in October, so does anyone have any idea if the rut was in October? I also heard the deer here don't have a defined rut due to the fact there is no danger to losing a fawn in the cold weather months because it doesn't get that cold. Is this true?

From what I understand out "3rd rut" should be the 1st week of December. The short cold spells we have kick the does off at different times during the season. Everyone says there seems to be 3 "defined" periods. One in Oct, one in Nov, and one in Dec. generally after each full moon or a cold snap. I have zero data to back this up it's just what "they" say. LOL
