I thing pull ups are palms facing away and chin ups are palms facing towards.

It just depends on who you talk to.

Oh......THOSE kind of pull ups!

Seeing as this is JPH's thread, and with all his gastronomic issues while hunting, I just assumed that it was the pull up training pants that kids use while potty training.....[:D]

All kidding aside, I used to do chin/pull ups for upper body strength until I ripped my rotator cuff last winter. Now it's no dice.

Woodsy, are you a candidate for surgery? I know a bunch of guys who have had it (torn rotator cuffs are common in my line of work) and it is often very successful. The guys I know have almost all gotten back to 100%.

I suspect that I have a slight tear in mine but it is not enough to be a candidate for the knife.

I may be, but I can still shoot my bow, so as long as I can do that.....no knives.....

One thing I would add is that these exercises should be a part of an overall work out plan and not done alone.  An imbalanced physique is not a good thing and can lead to injury.

As for the rotator cuff tear, have you tried rehab and exercising it?  There are movements that may help.

LMAO!  Seriously Woods Walker I thought the same thing when I saw the title of "No place for pull-ups"!  I thought don't tell me someone actually wears pull-ups while hunting, no way!  Way to go JPH!

Seriously this is a great post.  I'll be looking into the doorway pull-up options and buying one soon so I can do pull-ups in the house.

I saw them at Wal-Mart for like $30 the other day.

...doorway pull-up bars that is, not diaper type pull-ups.
