Turnips

What do you guys think would mix well with turnips for a winter food plot? I was thinking some winter wheat? or some brassica/chicory mix? I'm located in SE Mich if that helps with recommendations, but i was just wondering, i never knew turnip seed was so cheap and i want to give em a try this winter, thanks for any info you can provide me with!!

Have never planted anything w/ my turnips.  like you said the seed is so cheap, that I broadcast probably twice as much seed as i need to.  my plots always grow thick with them though.  I've never had the need to plant anything with them.  After the first frost it looks like herds of deer have been in them after a week of grazing.  The sure love them once it gets cold here in southern Missouri.

Goose is the guy to talk to about turnips. He posted information above in the link and I got additional info about turnips via pm and the internet. I am going to be planting them this year due to what I have learned about them. Thanks again Goose!

Demoderby....This is what I did last season....
New plot  so in the early summer I planted buckwheat...deer love it ...and it regrows through grazing......In late Aug. early Sept...I simply overseed the plot with rape seed...inclosed pic...
I did the same in another plot with paja/appin turnips anfd threw a little trical (hybrid wheat/rye)...trical does better though going in a little deeper.....it all grew well and the buckwheat and trical  had deer coming in before turnips were frosted assuring theyed return to plot during the hunting season.......

Reeper I choose to make many small plots all close to the center of my land....right now I have 12 small plots that the deer come into and spend the day going from plot to plot...I keep watering holes near each plot...post a few pics......

They all look great, thanks for posting the pics. Are most of those plots different plants? The blend looks like it grew really well together.

Thanks..... yes most plots are differant..that seems to keep the deer interested...they are also at differant stages....all plots start out as buckwheat with a winter cover crop for at least a couple of years....natural nutrients added to the soil and weed surpression that way.....also gives me time to get the ph right...I all ways have perennial and annual plots
