New State Xbow Record NT?

Postby JPH » Thu Feb 05, 2009 6:38 am

A personal friend of mine (who wishes to keep his name out of circulation for as long as possible) just got the official B&C score on his huge NT crossbow kill. It netted 217", which tops the existing Iowa record crossbow NT by 4".

It has been entered with the state, so unless someone else shot one larger this year, it will be the new record in it's category.

The deer was taken in Clark county in Early Dec., only a few days before the shotgun season opened. This deer had been seen several times and was photographed prior to the kill. It has 25 scoreable points! It looks like he will have it displayed at the deer classic, without his name or personal information. So if you see a huge NT labeled Clark Co., crossbow, that's my buddies' deer.

Looks like 2 rib cages on the top of his head!
To bad that his brow is snapped off, that probably cost him a 7 or so inches! Oh well life goes on....[:D][:D]

No, no it's not broken! It bends backward and clubs out behind the head! very cool. It is one of those racks that has to be seen up close to truly appreciate it.

I was blessed to actually handle the deer about 16 hrs after it died. A once in a lifetime.

WOW!
What a HOSS!
Looks like he has his hand on a Drop Tine ... that Bad Boy has every thing!
He looks like he has gone a few rounds!

Seems to me, there has been a steady stream of Big Bucks coming out of Iowa lately.
Thanks for the "Pic"!

Well yeah, here in Iowa bucks like that are a dime-a-dozen. [8|]

In all seriousness, it has been nuts this year. Records are dropping like flies around here. That is one reason I am uncertain if this deer will actually take the sate crossbow record. There might be another one out there that we don't know about yet. It's not likely because Iowa only allows crossbows with a medical waiver but, there might have been another crossbow buck even bigger this year. Who knows?

And one more thing. I have never been real big on the whole record book buck hype. It's just that having one taken by a friend is a thrill. Heck, I've said more about it than he has. The guy does not even want his name attached to it! Very humble and private.
