I know the feeling JPH ... One of my best friends has the Kentucky State Record, Typical. I've got a replica of it on top of my bed. He's not a big buck hunter, just a meat hunter, and took his record book buck in 2000.
 
Me? I love the meat, but I want a Monster, ever since I shot one in 1978, only to have someone else who found it, tagged it.
 
If your friends is a record, his name will come out sooner than later ... I just hope it doesn't cause him any problems like my friend had to go through!

And one more thing. I have never been real big on the whole record book buck hype. It's just that having one taken by a friend is a thrill. Heck, I've said more about it than he has. The guy does not even want his name attached to it! Very humble and private.
