What type of music do you enjoy?

Postby DoeEyed » Fri Feb 13, 2009 8:04 pm

Who's your favorite band/artist? I like my country but I'll listen to most anything depending on my mood. I've been listening to the Zac Brown Band a lot lately. Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Brooks & Dunn are a few of my other favorites. I'll be going to see Toby Keith next Friday.

I love southern Rock. Lynyard Skynyrd, and the  Outlaws ( no longer together ) are tops with me. But there is a lot I will not listen to as well.

Classic rock is preffered (Doors, AC/DC, Boston, Zep, Who, Skynyrd)
Country with a rocking feel (Hank Jr., Kentucky Headhunters, Toby Keith)
Country that has some sentimental meaning when I'm reflecting on past hunts, usually on the way out to my spot.
And Polka!!  When I get back to Wisconsin, I try to catch a little polka on the radio on Sunday morning!

I'm not really into bands. I'd rather listen to individual singers. Some of my favorites include (in no particular order, except that Cash ought to be at the top, with Newbury a close second):
Willie Nelson
Randy Travis
Merle Haggard (his old stuff)
Johnny Cash (anything and everything)
Waylon Jennings
Tom T. Hall (what a songwriter!)
Mickey Newbury (especially "Frisco Mabel Joy")

Some of you may never have heard of Mickey Newbury, but I don't know how you can really call yourself a country fan if you don't know who he is. He was one amazing songwriter. I had "Frisco Mabel Joy" on an LP when I was in college, but it took me many, many years before I found it on CD. Then the CD in my car gobbled it up and when I finally retrieved it the disc wouldn't play right. Fortunately, I was able to find another after only a few months.
