Treadmilling - How do you pass the time?

Postby Patriot » Mon Feb 09, 2009 4:09 pm

I've taken up treadmilling recently (3-5 times per week for 30-45 minutes).

To pass the time, I watch hunting videos (either commercial videos or old home videos).

I just got done with a 45 minute treadmill session and was watching home vides from 1990-1995.  Good times!

Treadmills are good for catching up on TV! They can also be a good place for books on CD or talk radio.

Here is another way to pass the time on the treadmill. Run intervals! In other words, crank it up to a full sprint and jump on for say 400m (1 lap) then jump off and recover for :60-:90. Repeat for 6 intervals. Or try this, Sprint 800m, rest for :60, sprint for 600m, rest for :60, sprint for 400m, rest for :60, Sprint for 200m, vomit, and go home.

You will be in and out in a shorter period of time and you will spke your HR in a way that allows you to increase your metabolism while maintaining muscle mass.

I usally just watch tv, or listen to music.. One thing you can do is hold weights in your hands and walk at a fast pase.
"If I pull the hammer and shoot this young buck, he's dead. But if I pass on him, the next hunter might not shoot so straight."

JPH and DeerCamp,
Thanks for the input.  I do like the weights idea.  I'm not quite at a point where I could sprint...too much work[:D].  I do like to run for spurts at a time however.

I keep myself going on a treadmill by making myself believe that Rosie O'Donnell with PMS is standing at the back of it just waiting for me to quit or stumble. [:o]

I just picked up 2 more of the Drury DVD's this weekend (the 2 disc TV seasons).  That's about 9 hours of Drury TV....enough to keep me busy for awhile.
