Food piles?

Food piles?

Are all food piles bad? We sometimes here in Maine feed the deer with apple piles. Is this a good way to pass diseases to our heard? It does atract a lot of deer.

JEEZE I thought the VT board was quiet.
It's a real good way to spread disease ans cause fights.
If you're hell bent on feeding, spread it out over a big area.

CWD is spread by way of saliva, so food piles is a good way to spread it faster. As far as I know, there haven't been very many cases of this up here in Maine. Like the other guy said, spreading it out isn't a bad idea.

In addition, if you're doing this to attract deer to hunt them, baiting is illegal in Maine. Hunting over a pile of apples is a clear violation of Maine game laws.
