If you like historical novels, you need to check out Terry C Johnston's books. He writes mostly about Indian wars and mountain men, but everything in the book is historically accurate. Another favorite author is Allan W Eckert. His novels about the French and Indian Wars and those about the opening up of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio are really good.
