Feathers vs. Vanes

I thought I recall a previous post on it as well?  My two cents for what its worth; I used to use he feathers and my one complaint was when it was raining or wet out the feathers got ruffled a bit and I'm quite certain it would have impacted my accuracy...I switched to vanes after that.

 
My thoughts as well.  Last year was a wet one.  I got real tired of drying out my feathers every time.
 
I got real nervous when they got wet while on stand.

What flies better....feathers or vanes?

I'm gonna say go with vanes. They are more durable all around, from being stuffed in your case to weather. They weigh more and are a little nosier in flight but they are better IMO.
I have used both and gave up on feathers. There are many great options out there. NAP makes some good ones,duravanes, and of course blazers.
Another one that I am gonna try next are the Arizona Archery Max Hunters.

the old rule of thumb was that feathers are more forgiving than vanes but with all the new materials out that vanes are made of now i believe that vanes are the way to go for hunting arrows.
 
I know of some guys that are big time target shooters who use feathers but they are fair weather shooters of course.

I use the vanes..I use to use the feathers, but have since changed to vanes. They are less work for me and last a long time as well.

I tried feathers on my compounds and figured I would stay with the vanes .
Definately feathers on recurves .........

I shot feathers for years but i switched to blazer vanes and i love them still shoot five inch feather for my recurve tho

I used to shoot feathers for years, but since have switched to vanes. Trying to weather proof the feathers with powders or sprays was too much of a hassle. Besides, vanes are a lot more durable.
