From Indianapolis to Sugar Island , MI. (UP) 550 miles. Buddy has a cabin on 150 acres. Much different hunting there. No trails to watch. Hunted over bait.

Now its 1300+/- (Tampa - Sumner)

furthest i have ever traveled to hunt deer is about 30 miles. Pretty fortunate i guess.

Living in Anchorage, Alaska I am used to traveling long distances for hunting trips. But this year takes the cake in that I am deployed to Afghanistan with the Army Corps of Engineers. So, on R&R in January I traveled from Kabul, Afghanistan approximately 9,200 miles (24 hours on airplanes and another 3 hours driving) to Clay County, Mississippi for a two-day whitetail hunt at my Dad's place.

I recently returned from a trip from Alabama to Pike county,Illinois. Hunting public land on the Illinois river. 1-7 November 2008, temp. 85 degrees all week. Saw one huge 8pt. buck cross the road in front of me at 4:30 in the morning. Day 2 saw the biggest corn fed 12 point I have ever seen at 75 yards with a doe rubbing a tree. Tried every thing to get him to come into bow range but could not get him to leave the doe and come in close enough for a shot. Saw only 1 doe and 2fawns on last day of my hunt before returning home. I would not trade this experience for anything in this world. This place has the most beautiful crop lands that I have ever seen. This place is truly in the black belt of farming. If I could I would go back in a heartbeat.

in fall of 2008 i drove from maine to kansas and iowa to deer hunt (2000 miles plus ) one way ! also went to idaho elk and deer hunting ( over 3000 miles ) one way ! they were both worth it !

Went from Albany, NY to Lincoln, Maine which is 470 miles each way. Made this trip each year with my father in-law from 1972 to 1984 with mixed success. I grew up in Lincoln, 50 miles No. of Bangor, in the 60's and hunted the area from the time I was 12 years old. I have had much better success hunting in Upstate NY (Washington County) from 1985 until today. Tom Mac
