Where's LaPorte?

I've driven through and flew over Indiana but have never gone to hunt or visit anyone. My father-inlaw had recently moved to LaPorte and when we visit we now have a place to stay.
But is LaPorte an area or near any good hunting areas. We will most likely be visiting in the summer, and if I can find some state land or other area to hunt I would like to return in the fall. Also, are permits easliy bought over the counter for out of stater's?

I live about 60 miles from LaPorte. Unfortunately, I moved here from Alabama less than 2 years ago so I'm not real familiar with the area.I looked up hunting lands on indianainfo.net and found the following:

Hey guys, I am from central Indiana but have several buddies that have gotten some monsters up in the LaPorte area.  I have heard from many that Kingsbury is a great place to hunt.

I'll be looking further into hunting the area now that I got the contact info and knowing that there are good sized deer in the area.
