Just an update on training.

Getting some strength back in the upper body now. In the 285# 2-3 rep area (depends on the day) on the BP. Everything else is stronger too.

Started to increase the cardio too the last couple weeks, and the leg strength has plummeted. But I had been nursing a torn ab for months, so with all that, i don't feel like I am too off pace.

I want the 300+ BP by end of April
and the 315 squat.

Only thing stopping me would be the union workers.
I hope they sign.

Nice work Sailfish! I don't even like to think about how bad a torn ab would suck.

What's your BW again?

It totally is a pita.
This week though I just said "dernit, just work through the discomfort"
Of course I am being careful to watch for the REAL pain as opposed to the nagging type.
It's a fine line, but I hate being weak!!!!!

Well good work!

I know what you mean about hating the recovery process. That is one thing I am learning about aging. As I close in on 40, I can do anything I used to do or more, but I have to recover. It forces you to train smarter.

Good luck.

Here's an update. Started with 30 min on the elliptical and 15 min of weights on Mon. Went for a moderate 40 min walk on tues. And today went for a 1/4 mile walk/jog. My legs are seriously unhappy right now but I will continue! Tomorrow I think it will be stretching, walking and upper body weights![:D]

Nice work, sore yet?

On a side note, how is everyone doing with their progress? If I recall there were even a before and after pic somewhere's.

Maybe JPH can start a "progress" thread strictly for updates, pics, etc.

I knew someone was gonna ask. I suck. I quit. It hurt. I thought I was gonna die. Okay that may be a bit dramatic[:o] Umm, I don't think I'm an everyday runner. I start some classes at the ymca 2morrrow. I am going to try to get my wind and muscles built up that way a little and then I will try again. I'm also looking forward to getting out on the bike if it stops raining one of these days. Sorry men, I am just not disciplined when it comes to exercising! [&o]
