In addition to what I have posted above, I'll be adding a North American Arms .22M "Dixie Derringer" in the next week or two.

My youngest son served 14 months in Iraq with the 4th Brigade 10th Mountain Division. He's been back in the states since the 5th of January this year. When I saw him last week when he was home on leave, he said he had something for me. He presented me with a match grade Para PRX 1445 in coyote brown finish. Caliber is .45 ACP and it came with (5) 14 round clips.
The guns were made up special order for members of the 10th Mountain Div. It even has the Division logo engraved on it along with Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09. Pretty cool Father's Day gift, huh?

Wanderer,
That's some gift. I'm sure you'll cherish it.Image
Please let your son know how proud we are of him for what he and his fellow servicemen are doing for us. And please be sure to thank him on my behalf for his service.

I've had more than a few over the years but now am down to just a 1911 45 acp and a Ruger single six 22lr/22mag.  I feel the urge coming on again for another one though......I sure do like that Taurus judge 45/410 .....I'd like a Smith or two ( in 45acp) but the ones I'd like would require me finding oil somewhere on the place[:D]
It matters not the weapon nor its caliber, rather the caliber of the one who wields it.

What kind of handguns does everyone have? I purchased a S&W 422 22LR a few months back, my first one. Its pretty fun to shoot and convienent to take into the woods.

Like the Wanderer I have a lot of duplicates, but with me, it's because I have one home in NY & one in FL & it just got to be too much of a hassle to keep packing them for multiple trips. I guess my favorite is an out of print High Standard target .22 that I use to use when I shot competition. It has a trigger like a touch screen computer. I have a Ruger .44 Super Blackhawk for hunting; but it's still a virgin. I used to carry a Colt .45 Combat Commander as a concealed service gun, but it was too heavy & I replaced it with a Taurus PT 24/7 Pro in .40 cal. Replaced that with the more compact Taurus PT 145 Pro in .45 cal when that came out. For casual ware (so to speck) I usually carry a Walther PPK/S (James Bond's gun) or one of my Colt Detective Specials. I also have a Taurus .22 wheel gun for plinking. And finally a Browning 9 mm Hi Power in highly polished Nickel finish & a .357 Colt Python ... both of those guns are just for looking ... & rarely leave the house. NOTE: aside from .22 ammo, I only buy Magtech, Guardian Gold Series +P ammo. This stuff is up to 25% hotter than regular ammo, including Cor-Bon.
