winter peas

I see on some post talk about winter peas and deer eating them before they can get up out of the ground good. Well I have a little trick that works for me if you will watch when your peas start coming up if you will take powder lime and put all over the peas and I mean put in on them the peas will have a chance. Deer don't like the taste of the lime its to bitter and this will give them a chance to come up. The only thing when it rains it will wash off in the ground that is good for the ground but make sure you put some more on the peas. It works ok with me.

Our two acre plot this year seems to be holding up well, but I suspect the hot July/August temps may burn them out.  Hope not, as the deer really love them.
