What would you shoot??

So you believe in QDM, but you got a 150 class 3 1/2 year old on your radar, but you also have a 130 class buck that is 6 1/2 years old. You know the younger buck goes higher on the scoring chart, but yet, that old buck has always got around you, do you go after old timer, you would you perfer the younger buck, then gamble on letting the older buck either die off in winter or let someone else shoot it???

What do you do in this situation??

I believe in harvesting the oldest buck. Old bucks in my opinion are so fun to hunt, I could care less about score, but yet a big old buck that is 180 is an extra bonus.

Old bucks being killed are a dimed a dozen, so what would you do??

I have to agree with Goose. It would take a lot of determination to hold off on a 150 class 3 1/2 year that a neighbor wouldn't let walk.

I would take the first one to walk past my stand. I`m a meat hunter, so they both taste the same.

Ihad a good 8 and a big 10 come in...the 8 gave the best shot and I took it....what ever one gives me the best shot

Like most others, I'd be happy with either one, so whichever walks by first.

I would take the first to walk by since they are both mature deer. Now, if they both showed at the same time I would take the bigger bodied of the two which I assume would be the older buck in most cases. I'm not a trophy hunter and put more priority on the amount of meat that will go into my freezer.

Well, since this is a which one question, and I had to pick one, I'd pick the older buck.  Yes, he is probably quite a bit smarter, so harder to hunt, and it also because he's older looks like he may be going down-hill with his antler development (could be a bad year too).  Also, gives the 3.5 hopefully another year....So, that's my answer, BUT, I'd be happy with either! [:D]
