Does that have everything in it that the deer needs, say comparable to the store brands (rack-up, etc)?

Compare this to Rack Up and I think it is close...

RACK UP
Calcium (Ca), min - 13.75%
Calcium (Ca), max - ???
Phosphorus (P), min - 7%
Salt (NaCl), min. - 5.6%
Salt (NaCl), max - ???
Magnesium (Mg), min. - 1.5%
Potassium (K), min. - 0%
Copper (Cu), min. - 18 ppm
Manganese (Mn), min. - 230 ppm
Selenium (Se), min. - .75 ppm
Zinc (Zn), min. - 200 ppm
Vitamin A, min. - 0 IU/lb
Vitamin D3, min. - 0 IU/lb
Vitamin E, min - 0 IU/lb

So to finally answer your question, I do believe that the Homemade Mineral Mix is very comparable to ALL of the commercial mixes. Especially if you factor in the huge cost savings.

Here is a comparison chart I found for a lot of the major brands...

Great information - nice to see it all in one place.

I think I have read somewhere that no one is quite certain what deer really need in a supplement so it's all a guess anyway.

We put out minerals figuring if done responsibly it's not going to hurt the herd - and anecdotally can say we have seen bigger racks on deer since we started doing so.  But, and a big but, we also started doing this two years after APR's came out, so who knows for sure if the minerals have any real effect on our property.  We'll continue to do it though - the deer seem to like them.

Wouldn't have anything that compares various seed mixes would you?
