NASHVILLE - Ed Carter knows what its like when the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency changes directors. Come March 1 he'll find out what its like to be the director.
Carter, a native of Hawkins County and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, was named director Thursday by a 9-4 vote of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission. The four nay votes, all from West Tennessee commissioners, were cast by supporters of assistant director Nat Johnson.
"For a change I'm glad to be behind the podium," Carter told the commission after the vote. "I may have just wet my pants."
