Opening Day pictures of the buck my brother shot Saturday afternoon. He was in his stand for about 20 minutes when this guy came by checking a scrape. He shot him at 40 yards just after he finished licking a branch and working a scrape. Deer field dressed at 179 pounds, we scored it at 154 2/8, didn't count any deductions. MDC at the processors aged it at 4.5 years. Shot it with a 270WSM, 130grain, Balistic Silvertip. Deer dropped in its tracks.

This is his first buck from our property - 8 years of hard work.

Nothing like a little something to put a smile on your face after all the hard work you do on your property with food plots, cutting wood, etc etc...Congrats to you and your brother!  Job well done!

Here are a couple of picts of his deer "on the hoof". Taken from a game camera about 50 yards from where he shot the deer, over a mineral lick. He had 12 countable points, 5x7.

After the shot we thought this guy may have been a wanderer as we couldn't remember seeing him on camera. But after review game camera picts we see him all over the place, just didn't recognize him.
