The first week of IL. bow hunting season was a great harvest by numbers compared to the 07 season. Bowhunters took 6,229 deer, 71.4% percent doe's and 28.6 % bucks. The opening day saw over 1,500 deer harvested. This could be a record deer harvest year if the weather dosen't slow the harvest down. From a management prospective these buck/doe deer harvest ratios are a sign that IL., deer hunters are looking towards a well managed deer herd in the future, great job IL., bowhunters!
