I am thinking about anew rifle,bolt action either a .308 or .338, also I need to pick a manufacturer. I have narrowed it down to winchester .308 lightweight, or ruger hawkeye. I would appreciate any opnions,also does anyone used the remington AR 25.  Thankyou John

I'm picking up a used 7600 pump .308 that I know will make an excellent addition to my gun safe!

I'm partial to the Browing Rifles,I have a Browning .243 Hunter in the A-bolt and the gun is built very good,the bolt-action is smooth yet good and tight and it is very accurate!I also have a Browning A-bolt Medallion in a .270 WSM and it is a wonderful gun that will always hold its value.You can't beat a good .308 Rifle and I'm sure Remington makes the "Managed Recoil" shells for the .308 if your worried about any recoil flinching.

I have a Ruger M77 in 7mm Rem . Mag. Have shot it a little and it seems to be a good shooter. I may try a T/C Icon they have been reviewed very well. It kinda sux because Delaware is not a rifle state, plan on huntin' Md next year though

I'd probably buy the Kimber. I almost bought one a few years ago in 7mm-08. Actually I did buy it, but then thought the better of it and took it back. I was without a job and couldn't justify the price. I ended up with the Remington Model 7 stainless, and couldn't be happier with it.

Well, if you like Browning - and who doesn't - you might want to consider getting a BAR. Browning gas operated autos all shoot < 1" groups @ 100 yds, which unfortunately is not true with many less expensive brands.

Plus, one of the biggest benefits of a BAR is the fact that the perceived recoil is going to make it feel like you're shooting a .243. I own Browning rifles, shotguns & pistols; all quality stuff.

Lastly, the .308 is very close to a 30-06, but, the 30-06 will give you a slightly flatter trajectory when you start going out past 100 yds. So I would consider going with the 30-06 based on that plus it's prolific availability. However, there is no big difference between the two.

Try a Savage. Mine shots sub 1 moa @100 yards And can keep em all in playing card @200 yards all with off the shelf ammo, no handloads at all. Wasnt that expensive either. Ive used mine to make kills from 100-200+ yards, No complaints on anything on my Savage!

Savage model 10, .308 with Zeiss 6.5-20x50 on top of her. As far as my name, lol, I drive a Dodge (d) 4x4 (44) 3500 (series) d443500. Wasnt trying to step on toes here just trying to help. I used to have Leupold 3x9 on top of my rifle but wanted to "reach out" a little,lol
