Whatever you get, make sure it does at least 640x480 video resolution and I would try before you buy. Nothing worse then getting something that won't meet your video quality standards.
I've been using my Canon Powershot S3 camera in video mode which also allows me to take still pictures on stand. I use a Gorillapod tridpod
http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/ that wraps around the shooting rail on my treestand to support it. It's not ideal but it works and with a little more effort I could probably make it for usable.
