I would say that just about any .308 Rifle is going to work very well on a Deer,the .308 will knock down a Deer for sure and probably be a very accurate gun!If Your worried about too much recoil....if your Rifle is a Bolt-action You can probably get the "Managed Recoil" shells from Remington to help with less recoil if it isn't an issue then your fine too.I was thinking about getting a Savage 7mm-08 in the Hunter Series myself,that should be a good accurate gun and the recoil will be pretty light with that size caliber Rifle.
