droptine bucks

so i was wondering if anyone knew anything about them? what causes them? how often does it happen? i am hunting an area this gun season where my buddy shot a big 10pt with a double droptine. we talked to a guy who hunts by us, and he said 2 years ago he got a big 12pt with a droptine.  we werent sure if we should believe him or not but he also said every year he gets a big buck where he hunts. we drove by his camp (1mile away) and saw that he taged out with a 9pt and a 10pt. are they ginetic? (sp)  do you think there are more in the area?  anyone know anything on them?

After ten years of QDM my son passed a buck with a 1-2 inch drop tine on first day of bow season, we never saw him again, then while looking for sheds we found both horns! Will be interesting to se if he is still around this fall and if the drop tin has dropped more, nice ten point main frame, maybe 3.5 years old?

lonlon i have heard one thing about droptines and you might not like it... i heard that they will get the droptine everyother year.. not sure if its true, but hope you get that buck

Interesting? Every other year? Where we hunt one is lucky to see every other year! If we should get him we should be able to match up his sheds and test that theory out? Lon
