I was thinking about the upcoming changes and there is a lot of talk over at HoosierHunting.com and since it is quite obvious that bow hunters in this state are going to make out like bandits if this rules go into effect (which I think they are going to).   This is what I propose so this way everyone gets affected equally and I think this will go a long way in helping reducing the population.
Deer hunting in Indiana should run from Sept. 15th to Dec. 31st
Urban Deer Zone season:  Sept. 15th to Dec. 31st     Antlerless
General Archery season (statewide):  Oct. 1st to Dec.31st    Antlerless
Firearms season (including muzzleloaders):  Nov. 15th to Dec. 15th   Antlerless
Antlered Deer season:  Nov. 1st to Nov. 30th with:
     Archery:  Nov.1st to Nov. 15th
     Firearms: Nov. 15th to Nov.30th

The only thing I don't like is the 2 day gun hunt in october. The rest is ok by me.

The One Buck Rule applies to everyone equally, these changes do not at all.  All this does is favor on group of hunters over another.  Bowhunters will still get up to 92 days (but up too 107 days with Urban Deer Zone) to take a buck whereas shotgun hunters will only get 8 days to get a buck.

So how do you think that is ok, let alone fair?

We all know its way easier to kill deer with a gun. Maybe that is why gun season is so short.

I am talking about Buck hunting.  Some guys will only shoot bucks so now you are knocking them down to 8 days to shoot one.  That is not fair to them.  All these rule changes are for is so some guy can get off on "horn porn", that's all.

Not real sure what you mean by "horn porn". I like the new changes, but then again I only bow hunt. I hunt all year long but just with the stick and string.

That's the thing, you only bowhunt, so why wouldn't love these changes, because it is a god send for everyone (like yourself) who just bowhunts. You would have the prime of the rut while those who only gun hunt get shafted.

How is that fair to those gun hunters to only get 8 days (17 if they use muzzleloaders) to gun hunt for a buck while you get 92 days (up to 107 days with Urban Deer Zone) to hunt for a buck?  If the roles were reversed, bowhunters in this state would be livid if that was the case and so would I.  If they are going to change the rules, I just want it to be fair across the board so everyone gets affected equally.

This whole shenanigan is so we can get bigger bucks under the guise of "doe reduction" which is why this is nothing more then for "horn porn" you know bigger racks.

So your mad cause you can only get your "horn porn" for only 8 days.  I can see it clearly now!

Bryan In a previous thread you said you didn't care if the deer you shot had anything on its head but now you get your panties in a bunch when they take away your buck hunting days?  What gives?  If you only hunt for meat then why do you care?

NO!!! I don't think it is fair to those who only shotgun hunt Doug.  I can hunt the entire Indiana deer season since I have all the equipment to do so.  I could care less how big the rack is since one, I can't eat antlers and two, I already have my personal trophy on my wall.  And besides I see more does then I ever do bucks so to even see one is a treat for me.

It is called fairness for my fellow hunters out there Doug you know, the ones who are going to get shafted by this.  Gun hunters take more deer then any other season so why would you take days away from them?  I look at Deer as nothing more then a food source.  And every time I go out hunting, I go with that mindset.  Doesn't matter if it is a buck or doe that walks out.  If it gives me a good shot I am going to take it.  But to tell me and every other hunter out there that gun hunts you have only 8 days to kill a buck (17 with muzzleloader included) and yet bowhunters get the whole season to shoot a buck and don't have to give anything up is pretty crappy and unfair.

All I want is for everyone to be treated equally under these new proposals.   I like my idea having a buck season in November with bowhunters and gun hunters getting 15 days apiece to take a buck with the rest of the time being anterless only.  That I think, will go a lot further in reducing the overall deer herd like they want while at the same time not hampering the overall quality of deer hunting in this state.
