changes coming to Indiana deer seasons

The Indiana Bowhunters have jumped into bed with the Insurance industry. Less gun hunting, longer bowhunting, more/longer urban deer zones. I (along with many friends and family) bow and gun hunt. These changes suck.

Your absolutely right about the changes sucking but not you're right and wrong about getting less gun days to hunt.  Buck hunting your dead on right about that.  But depending on where you live and hunt determines on weather or not you get less days total of gun hunting.

I would love to go to one of those meetings but the times are not favorable for me because by the time I could get to the closest one it would be almost over.  I hope they post their so call "statistics" online so I could study them because I don't buy the BS they are trying to sell us hunters.  I might have been born at night, but I wasn't born last night

nobody liked the one buck rule when it first happened now 80% of hunters like it.  I'm not a fan of all the new rules either but sometimes change is a good thing.

But the OBR applied to everyone on a equal level where these propose changes do not.  I'm not against change if it makes sense and it is applied onto everyone equally.  And I think the OBR helped in some areas where there are more public hunting available and didn't make much of a difference in areas with very few to no public hunting available. 

I think allowing only the month of November to take a buck with the bowhunters getting the first 15 days and gunhunters the last 15 days makes the most sense as far as making it an even playing field and at the same time reducing the doe population is completely fair for everyone.

The obr surely helped me and I dont hunt public land. check out my buck on the 09 photos.

To my knowledge the seasons have never been "fair". gun hunters have always had less time to get their antler porn.

That may be true but gun hunters still pulled out more deer then bow hunters ever hope to achieve.

Do you think my proposal only allowing buck hunting in Nov. is fair to everyone?

Its a farce! They say they want more deer killed, but they reduced gun and muzzy season by 44%. Notice how when you mention a TWO DAY October gun season, the bowhunters get riled up and dont like it? But its OK to deny gunners 44% of their season. LOL
 
 
By the way, I bowhunt with trad gear, even during gun season so this has no ill effect on me....but I can still see its wrong and is just the IBA IDHA gettin their way, makin it easier for them to get their buck befor some dang gunner can Its all about the horns.

AMEN Dave.  So have you seen my proposal on page one?  If so, what do you think?  That is why I am trying to post on HoosierHunting so I can see what others think.  I think my proposal is fair, and everyone can still get their buck that they want.  I did send the NRC a two page letter last night with my proposal on it.  I'm hopping that they will contact me with further questions.

I noticed something that most probably didn't see and those who live and hunt in the following counties:

Adams                                     Pike
Benton                                    Randolph
Blackford                                Rush
Carroll                                     Shelby
Clinton                                    Spencer
Decatur                                   Tipton
Grant                                        Union
Hancock                                  Wells
Henry                                      Wabash
Martin                   

If they only use a firearm and hunt only these counties, then they are only going to get 8 DAYS all year to hunt and still have to pay FULL price for a now 16 day license.  Their bonus quota is 3 or lower.  Yeah that is really fair to those hunters.  I pointed that out to them.  Way to stick it to em huh!!!!
