Scotman, the problem is that some knucklehead is willing to pay that much for an acre of land. That's driving the price up. Outfitters and other folks from the East Coast are buying acreage in Illinois and Missouri at 3 times the price it was selling for just 10 years ago.
Yea three times the price it was selling for 10 years ago is not at all a normal price increase. My father bought 50 acres of land 20 years ago for 500$ a acre. The going rate for land now varies from 750-1,000$ now in my area.
