Never trust real estate agents or loan officers, they're the used-car salesmen of the 21st century (no offense to any used car salesmen readers). Everytime we sell/resell or refinance they're making commission and the buyers/sellers have to artificially inflate prices to KEEP MAKING MORE MONEY. The real estate market and Banking/Loan industry are hurting for a reason. But any way who cares... I don't want to seem cynical.

Scotman, the problem is that some knucklehead is willing to pay that much for an acre of land. That's driving the price up. Outfitters and other folks from the East Coast are buying acreage in Illinois and Missouri at 3 times the price it was selling for just 10 years ago.
Yea three times the price it was selling for 10 years ago is not at all a normal price increase. My father bought 50 acres of land 20 years ago for 500$ a acre. The going rate for land now varies from 750-1,000$ now in my area.
