Shot my first pa buck Sat. I have been hunting for 12 years and killed 90% of my deer within eyesight of the PA border but never hunted over it until Sat. My season lasted just over an hour. nice little 8 point! Couldnt be happier!

congrats NY!

hunted saturday, am and pm. saw one doe in am feeding under an old oak. other than that, not too much action. Have been noticing many more scrapes. the usual ones are opening back up and found a few new ones also. licking branches have been used all summer, but they are def starting to scrape the ground. been noticing more rubs just over this past week. in two seperate spots, had multiple rubs show up within days of being there.

how did all the other pa hunters do this weekend?

Congrats, NYS. I'd love to be in that picture.

The 2010 archery season has been good so far in Centre County. It started off last Saturday with the most perfect morning you could imagine, weather wise . . . lows on Friday night dipped into the upper 30's and highs on Saturday only reached around 60. I wasn't able to hunt until Tuesday (which I did with my wife and two daughters (6 and 4), in a ground blind . . . we saw 2 does and 2 fawns), but one of my good hunting buddies arrowed a nice doe around 8 AM. She was with a group of five other does and a yearling buck. I drove to pick him and the doe up and he took care of her at his house while I tended to my obligations for the day. He decided to try a new hunting spot in the evening and it turned out pretty well for him. He shot this 130 class buck within the last few minutes of daylight. He returned home and we went out to track it together. The buck only ran about 40 yards from where he shot it. You can't fake that excitement! I was as happy for him as he was for himself. It's great to have friends and family to hunt with. Hunting in PA has never been better! God Bless!

Thursday in Northampton co. saw 7 doe this morning with one bedding right below me all morning. With the rain coming I decided to take a walk around after 10am. Big changes the last 2 days as large scrapes and rubs have shown up. We have seen 2 good bucks in the area spotting at night but the corn is keeping them out of sight. 4 of the does I saw were in the corn edge I could see from my stand. I hung a camera at multi scrape site, added a licking branch to scrape in front of my stand and hung a dripper. With the rain ending tonight they should be out freshening things up during the late night hours.
Yesterday the club members took a 3yr old 6pt with 5 " bases and a small 8pt.

Gonna sit the stand again tomorrow.

roughrider out.
