Plot watcher?

What's your battery life like on this camera? Is this the first year with this camera?

I here the battery life is only five days, Is this true?

I have not purchase one yet but have had several conversation with the manufacture of the camera. With some adjustments I was told that you can extend the battery life to 8 to 10 days. I still think that crap. The property I want to use the camera in is 50 + miles from my home and I'm not driving back and forth that often.

This is from a posting I did back in September……FYI: I called the manufacture and they are developing a modification for the back of the unit to accommodate an auxiliary battery. If you're interested you can do it yourself. The understanding is you will extend the battery life to 3 weeks or more depending on the setting. You just need to removed the battery plate and bore a small hole to accommodate the wire from the auxiliary battery. The hole can be closed with silicone to keep it water tight. The battery can't be larger than 6 volts connected directly to the positive/negative section inside the camera. Now you also need a larger SD card…max that the camera will hold is 16 GB.

Option two: Wait for the company to produce the modification and make it available for purchase.

I hunt only 2 miles from my house and behind my house
so checking the cam weekly would not be a problem for me.
I will be buying one of these cams even though I know
something better will be coming along soon but not soon
enough. If I can get  week out of it i will be happy, As I
am hunting every weekend.   Jake

Once you purchase the camera and start getting pictures back, let me know what you think of the camera. I would be interested in your thoughts on this item.

I have been using the plotwatcher camera for two weeks now. It works pretty much as advertized.
We put it up on a cut corn field and seen where many bucks
were entering the field, Put a blind there and two days later a bud of mine harvested a nice 11pt there.
You can see a long ways away with this cam and determen
where the movement is. You cant tell from a long distance
exactly what a buck has on his head. Only if hes big or small.
 
The search funtion when looking at footage is hard to use
because if its windy or there are shadows moving in the pic
It will stop the footage.
A day of footage will take about 10 minnets to view on fast foward. And if you take your eyes off the screen you could miss a deer moving through.
 
If you realy want to know what is moving in an area in the daytime, This is a very good tool. As a game cam can not
capture all the footage this plotwatcher does.
 
I have left it out for 5 days and batteries were still going.
Set at 10 seconds.
 
When my bud took the big 11 the plotwatcher caught the footage. Pretty cool.   Jake

I seen them at BassPro for under $300 But was alittle skeptical about them..

Do they take any pics at night motorbreaker?

Also In your oppinion what kind of distance does it have?(where you can still make out whats on the head)

The buck in this picture is a 170 class at about 70 yards.
The doe is at about 50.
