Largest WT typical taken in US in 39 years

Postby dewey » Fri Feb 18, 2011 12:08 pm

Here is a link to a Field and Stream article about a Nebraska GIANT whitetail that scored 200+ and goes down as the #7 B&C typical of all time. The last time a deer this big was harvested was in 1971. WOW!!!

I just read the story about this deer in one of the other deer magizines i get. The guy who shot its son, the one on the left of the pic, actually missed the deer shortly before his dad shot it. Beautiful deer.

What a great deer. Couldn't imagine. He'll never get a bigger deer in his life, and i'm sure he's fine with that.

Boy if there is ever a case of woulda, coulda, shoulda. I would be happy that my dad got him but boy would I be upset with myself.

Not true bigger bucks have been killed and are in the record books since larry gibson's 1971 MO record.

If I shot a deer like that, I could be assured I'd never even see one bigger.

Hi guys,

We will actually have a small piece on this in the next issue of D&DH. It is part of a feature story written by Les Davenport that looks back on the legendary Johnson Buck (archery typ. record) and the odds of another 200" deer being killed by a bowhunter. Look for it on newsstands beginning March 29. Mails to subscribers on March 15.

Best,
