Reminton 870 slug gun

There is a gun shop not to far from my office selling a used Remington Slug Gun 20 gauge, black synthetic for $295.00 (no scope). Gun looks brand new. What do you think of the price?

Sounds like a good price. The barrels alone go for around $300.00 at Bass Pro Shop!
Give or take acouple $$$.. Is it with a canterlever scope mount, and is it a rifled Barrel??

What is the difference?  I don't remember seeing express.  The barrel is rifled also what is difference with a canterlever scope mount?

a cantilever scope mount is attached directly to the barrel otherwise the scope is attached to the reciever a 20 gauge will be good out to at least 100 yards but practice and try different manufacturers to find what your gun shoots best hank k

The reason for the cantilever easport is incase you want to change from a slug barrel back to a regular barrel for bird hunting..(quik and easy) You don't have to take half the gun apart to change it around.. Also the theory is that the scope is attached to the barrel you won't have to resite it after you put it back on for deer season.. Did you ever get my IM??

I know what you mean now....and yes it does have a cantilever scope mount.  I have a Mossberg that my son will be using for this hunting thats designed that way.  It is a good feature for guns with interchangable barrels.

The difference between the "express" model and a "regular" 870 is the "Express" is a rougher finished gun, barrel and receiver as well other differences. The express will sell for about $350 - $400 range brand new with both barrels and a scope, a regular 870 would be aroud $900 - $1000 by now would be my guess, yes only a guess.
 
My buddy just bought one ( Express ) @ Dicks Sporting goods and it was a green composite stock and for-end with two barrels, cantilever scope mount attached to barrel with picatinny rail, scope, bird barrel w/ interchangeable chokes & a vented rib...... all for about $400

Its funny that you mention Dicks Sporting Goods and that gun....I saw it yesterday. I also understand that Remington is also offering a small mail in rebate on that gun. Personally I like the look of this used gun better. The other thing was the scope that came with the Remington....it ok. Bushnell has a middle of the road scope for $80.00 also with a mail in rebate (I believe $20.00 off) on the model BANNER.
