Congratulations mnmaverick and Patriot and thanks for the stories and pictures.

I can't wait to get the heck out of work and head up North on Wednesday and hunt Thursday through Sunday.

Good work Patriot! We were out last Thursday - Sunday trying to get rjohannsen a deer. My cousin got a 2 yr old 8 pointer on Saturday evening, but we didn't see any mature bucks all weekend. We did have a lot of cool encounters, with a few young bucks chasing does and scraping near our stand. We saw a ton of deer, including at least 10 different 1 or 2 year old bucks, but it seems like at least in SE MN the rut is not in full swing yet.

I think that Alsheimer once again hit the nail on the head with this years' rut predictions...long and drawn out, with the full action to start in a few weeks.

Glad to hear you all are seeing deer. I am going crazy getting ready for the southeast B season. Just a week and a half longer. Interesting to hear that the rut is not quite yet in full swing in the SE. Perhaps that bodes well for my later hunting date.

BWarner66, I think you'll have great success during Season B!  The activity during season A was just how MNMaverick described it.  Was fun watching the does with their fawns, small bucks doing a bit of chasing, etc., but no big boys.  We did get a lot of cool video from our stands though.  I plan on hunting the 20th with bow....should be good as long as we can get them to stop in their tracks for a second!

I'm heading out tonight to hunt my portion of the gun season at my in-laws farm.  Will be out all day Saturday and Sunday.  The forecast calls for temps in the mid 20's to mid 30's and snow Saturday.

I could use 1-2 more deer in the freezer, so we'll see how well I do passing up deer.  For sure no fawns, but I might drop the hammer on a 1.5 year old buck if given a clear, clean shot.  My party has some doe tags too, but will need to find out how many.

Sighted in the gun for Season B today. Did some last minute long distance glassing and certainly liked what we saw. 6 does and 1 immature buck. Two of the does were very big. I think the whether definitely had the deer out moving. Hopefully everybody had good luck this weekend.

Our gun hunting party of 13 licensed hunters took 6 bucks and 2 does this season.

I did not get any shooting even though I stuck it out all day Saturday in the 20-30mph wind and wet snow with 32 degree temps.  Not fun!

I'll be up to my lease property this Sunday afternoon for a scouting/hunting day.  Does only for me at this point.  MN only allows one buck per season regardless of weapon.
