I don't know what state your from, but in Ill. the deer had better be tagged with the permit before you start to gut it. If caught the fines are hefty.
Nice buck, very symetical. Was wondering where it was hit at. I see no entry or exit wound.

In Ohio you can field dress the deer as long as it is tagged correctly when checked in. If you're a land owner, you don't have to purchase a permit, you can make your own tag. In this area, you have to call the game warden if you have a problem, otherwise he never shows up. During bow season, he's never at the local check station, only during gun season.
I too was impressed with this buck, quick glance shows almost no deductions for asymmetrical points. The entry wound is on the other side, pretty sure it was a heart/lung shot. Taken with a crossbow.
