Last night was an odd hunt. Got to the stand a little late as I took a different entry point. On the way to the stand I see tracks about 30 yards away but I couldnt make out what kind they were anyways into my stand I go. Twenty mins in I make a grunt call and nothing happens. At about ten of five I decided to rattle and nothing happens. I waited a while then lowered my bow and got down. As soon as I got beyond the tree line and into the orchard I hear a pack of coyote making vocal sounds and its pitch black out. Im not sure if they had a kill or not but it was loud and seem very close. I gotta say I did panic a little (a pack of coyotes can do some serious damage), my car was about 1/4 mile away and I own no hand guns. I know have a valid excuss for the purchase of a 357.

11/13, 7:25am, saw a doe being chase by a 6 pointer. they cam by at 50yds out. looks like the seeking/chasing phase is on....

hey everyone.
Dropped a 9 pointer at 40 yards Friday morning.
I was in the stand 35 minutes, and rattled him in with some sheds.
Dressed out at 164 lbs

Nice plt3028!!!!! only got coyotes that came to my rattling this year. glad to hear that, that nice buck came in to rattling. now I know that it does work in MA too. just talked to my small group of archers and 2 other buddies are seeing buck chasing does on 11/12 and 11/13. should be a lot of buck activities this week.

Forgive me for the lack of terminology but what do you mean by the term shed? I use a rattle bag which drew in a few coycotes last week.

He means shed antlers he found during the winter somewhere.  Nice buck.

My buddies have been telling me it's all down hill from here. You see, this is not only my first buck, but my first deer, as well as the first shot I ever took at a deer. I took up archery last Oct., and was immediately bitten by the bug! all I did after december 31st last year was, scout,and scout...all winter,spring, and summer. I placed trail cams, found wintering spots, and hung tree stands. Wasn't until mid October, and found scape city, as well as a really defined rub line thru one of my areas. Nov. 2nd I got 3, or 4 trail cam pics from right below my tree of a nice wide 10 pointer. ( not the buck I shot)....so now I have another pursuit for Sat. a.m. !

Oh yeah, Woodsalta asked where I got him, East/Central Zone 9 about a mile west of rt 495...basically my back yard

my buddy went out this morning (11/19) and had a 8 pointer grunting and walking all around him. he was using the CAN, it wouldn't come thou. the closest point to him was about 50yds, semi open. time 7:15am.
