400 Pound Road Kill From Rhode Island

Postby baddoghunter » Fri Nov 19, 2010 10:47 am

A friend sent me this pic. It is supposedly a 400 pound road kill from Rhode Island rumored to be close to the world record. I dont know if the pic is real or photo shopped but if it is real WOW !!! thats all I have to say.

The graphic designers and editorial team studied this photo for some time. While it's definitely a large animal, the weight is most likely exaggerated. We're not saying 400 isn’t possible in a wild deer, but it has only been documented twice in wild deer in more than 100 years.

looks huge
Horns mounted on his head area looks funny though.
Alot might be the fact the deer is at the forefront of the pic??
Can't find a story on the interweb

Something that piggish....why would they only take the 1 photo angle to publish?  Looks fake to me.  If not, WOW!

Does look like a big deer - but Rhode Island?? I would believe it a bit more if it was from Northern Minnesota/Canada. Can anyone tell what kind of truck that is? if it is a S-10 or something small, that would make the deer look a lot bigger.

I posted it guys and dont really know if I believe it myself. Possibly photo shopped but it looks like a RI plate because I see them all the time.It does look dispraportionate. All I know is a friend had it sent to him by a guy he works with and he had this one and a pic of a Kansas buck his friend killed.

Ben call Northeast Taxidermy in CT and ask them how much the full body mount they have was. It was on display at the CT Cabelas in a guess the weight contest I was told and when I saw it in their shop all I could say was wow but never did ask them how much it really did weigh. It looked like it would go 400.Ive heard of and seen one in Saskatcuan that I thought went close to 400. There is a deer registered at Bob's Gun shop in Douglas MA that they claim is a MA state record and weighed I think 386.

The truck is an S10 so that changes the perspective. Look at the hitch receiver. That is 2" accross. Looking at that I'd estimate the inside spread to be about 20 - 22". Big deer, for sure but probably not 400 lbs.
