Kleber/Rich Wildlife Area Quota Hunt

Anyone else get drawn for the hunt this weekend? My Youngest daughter did, and my son and I got drawn for the december hunt. It should be a good morning out there today and I will post our results of the hunt. Good luck to anyone else who got drawn.

How was it? I know that place like my own living room. Hunted there through high school and college. I dont think there's an inch of those places I haven't been on. Lots of hunters, but some ok deer hunting.

A friend, myself and my 14 year old son hunted there this weekend 12/4/10 and 12/5/10. We are very disappointed in Kleber and Rich. Hunted there about 3 yrs ago and saw 1 doe. This year saw 1 spike. Hunted mostly off Harmony road. Most all the hunters we talked with were not seeing deer.

Have you hunted off of Harmony road before?

No, not hunted there. Scouted it a few weeks before the hunt and it looked like a great place. The other time we hunted the Franklin Co. side. I was hoping my son could at least get a shot at a doe. I know you can't expect to see a monster every time out.

Was this your first year in applying for the Kleber/Rich hunt, or did you have accumulative points?
Did you hunt the Kleber WMA.

We had points. Harmony is the border of one side of Kleber. It is difficult to park. You need a 4wd to be able to pull off the roadside. You have to cross a small creek that would be difficult to cross after rain. Had to look for a place last weekend. There's a hill to climb on foot also. Gotta be ready for that! The hunt application is for Kleber/Rich WMA.

So... what was anyones experiences at the quota hunt. Mine was not good. There were a lot of hunters parked around Rich, the gun range at Kleber and down the gravel before the check station. As I said before, out of three of us we only saw one deer.

I used to hunt those areas a lot. The quota is a mad house. IMO that many people on that sized area with rifles is not a good idea. I have suggested that those hunts be shotgun/ ML only and to cut down on the number of hunters. Threre are places you can go to get away from the others...
