2011 Shed Picks

I went on my first shed hunt of the year today, didnt find any but jumped a few does and found some good sign for next season. Has anyone had any success this year? If you find one please post your pics on this thread, it will give a seldom successful shed hunter (me) motivation to keep searching. Good Luck and have fun!

I havent seen an antlered deer since November. Snow is melting pretty fast in my area. this week heading out to search.

Snow is still too deep, hoping by Saturday it will go down a foot or so, then I will start looking.

I searched for 2 hours yesterday,found some unbelievable rubs,i have never seen so many rubs anywhere in my entire life. I also followed one set fo monster buck tracks that was pushing 6 inches with the dew claws mashed in the ground.

I also seen 5 other guys out shed hunting...the weather was perfect..no sheds but it was worth the extra time to scout the bedding area [we never go in there during season]...found some travel corridors and a huge single bed..no sheds but still quality time.

ON MY WAY TO WORK LAST NIGHT SEEN A GROUP A DEER CROSSING THE HIGHWAY. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GROUP WAS A 2O INCH 8 POINTER WITH ANTLERS THAT DIDNT MOVE AT ALL WHEN HE RAN ACROSS THE ROAD.
 
SEEMS LIKE THE ANTLER DROP IS LATER THAN USUAL. WHICH SEEMS KIND OF STRANGE TO ME CAUSE OF ALL THE SNOW THAT WE HAVE HAD ALONG WITH THE COLD TEMPS. BUT ON THE PLUS SIDE THAT SHOULD MEAN THAT THEY ARE HEALTHY!

Here's a pic to get some excitment going. They were found in a bedding area, before first snow (had leaves frozen to the bottoms). found on Jan. 28, 2011. One antler scores 72 3/8. Main beam is 27 2/8. Made my day.

Here is another one. Was found in the oaks where they were digging for acorns. Never found the other side. Some times coyotes will pick them up and carry them off. It scores 87 2/8. It had freshly fallen, you can see the blood on the base. You know it's a lot of antler when the base sticks up in the air.
