Sights on a shotgun

Question for you guys. My father has a 12 gauge smoothbore shotgun that just has a beed on the end of it. He has used this for years, but would like something more practical like those truglo sights. His brother has them and he absolutely loves them. Is there a way to get those sights on that gun? I see most of those truglo-type sights you need to have a vented barrel.

WW, trust me I already tried that. I bought him a new Remington 870 Mag a few years ago and he didn't want it...He's stuck in his ways and loves this gun. So, trying to make him happy! I did buy him a red dot scope this Christmas but I think he's looking for something those sights instead that I mentioned.

I think Hastings went out of business and you can no longer get their barrels. I looked for them a while back.

It's a Remington, Shaman. Not sure on the model. I'd have to go back and look. It's an older gun. I call it the elephant gun since when you stand it up it's almost as tall as I am (5'9").

it's a sem-automatic.

If it's an 1100, you can mount a scope on it with a B-Square no-gunsmithing saddle mount.

One thing to consider if you are going to switch to a scope on a shotgun is eye relief. I had used a Redfield Widefield with inadequate eye relief for many years and quite a few of my trophy pics include me with a bloodied forehead. Eye relief is not the only reason that you hit yourself, but it is one that is easy to control. I'd be careful with anything less than 3 inches. By the way, it only seem to hurt when sighting in your scope or when you miss a deer.
