Has anyone had any success getting bareroot shrubs to take off before deer eat them down too much? Some examples include: highbush cranberry, honeysuckle bushes, nannyberry, etc?

I have to put tree tubes on every tree I plant otherwise the deer nip the buds and leaves and this stunts the plant.

Tree tubes are the answer.  I've planted bareroot trees and shrubs every year and everything gets eaten, until this year when I used the tree tubes.

Cut up bars of Irish Spring soap also help as a deterant for deer. We use it around new trees and other plantings at the folks cabin. Cut up the bar and spread it around the tree/plants. It wont stop deer entirely but it helps.
