A whitetail deer’s sense of hearing is one of its strongest defenses against predators and for communication within its herd. While every hunter has heard stories about deer hearing the “tink” of a bow or gun against a stand, some research suggests a deer’s hearing actually is not much greater than a human’s. That’s difficult to imagine on a crisp morning, though, when that buck perks his ears and looks at you on the stand!
