Can-Am has unveiled its 2027 Defender side-by-side lineup, continuing the platform’s reputation as one of the most versatile utility UTVs available for farmers, landowners, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. The latest Defender models combine proven durability, strong hauling capability and expanded comfort features designed to tackle demanding jobs and long days in the field.
The 2027 Defender family includes multiple configurations powered by Rotax HD7, HD9 and HD10 engine options, giving users a choice of performance levels to match their workload and terrain. Can-Am says the Defender platform benefits from more than a decade of real-world testing and development, helping make it a dependable option for both work and recreation.
One of the biggest highlights for 2027 is the addition of Defender DPS CAB HVAC models, which Can-Am describes as offering one of the most affordable factory-installed cab and climate-control systems in the industry. The enclosed-cab design is intended to provide year-round comfort for users who spend extended time on the farm, ranch or hunting property.
Comfort improvements remain a major focus throughout the lineup. Defender models feature Can-Am’s VERSA-PRO bench seat system with enhanced bolstering designed to make entry and exit easier while providing additional support during long rides. The cab also incorporates noise-reduction measures to improve overall ride quality.
For hunters and land managers, the Defender’s capability is a key selling point. Can-Am highlights industry-leading towing and hauling capacity along with a cargo box designed to handle heavy loads. The base Defender model starts at $12,999 and features a Rotax 650cc single-cylinder engine producing 52 horsepower and 42 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment includes a Visco-Lok auto-locking front differential, selectable drive modes, an integrated steel front bumper and a heavy-duty skid plate.
Stepping up to the Defender DPS adds Dynamic Power Steering, aluminum wheels and upgraded tires to improve handling and ride comfort across rough terrain. HD9-equipped models are powered by a 976cc Rotax V-twin delivering 65 horsepower and 59 lb-ft of torque.
Can-Am also notes that owners can customize the Defender with more than 200 available accessories and multiple LinQ storage and cargo solutions. Those options allow users to configure the machine for specific roles, whether that’s hunting, farming, trail riding or property maintenance.
